856Y
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual 18ct gold ring that was made in the 1920s by Alabaster & Wilson Ltd . For more than 100 years, Alabaster & Wilson Ltd were based in Birmingham and closed in 2018. They symbolised expert craftsmanship and the manufacture of very fine jewellery in England and have made high quality pieces for many of the leading jewellery companies such as Cartier.

It is typical of the Art Deco period with the hexagonal shape.  It has been set claw with an amethyst. At the base of each claw is a platinum rub over set small diamond that adds sparkle to this pretty ring, and forms a girdle around the amethyst . Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz and has fascinated people over the years because of it’s wonderful lilac to purple colouring.

Amethyst is the birthstone for february
