18ct Gold, Silver & Diamond Lover’s Knot or Stafford Knot Ring

538K
Written by Olly Gerrish

This shank ring is 18ct gold with a silver top. The design is a lover’s knot with graded old mine cut diamonds. It is also known as a Stafford knot. The Earls of Stafford retained the knot for use on heraldic badges, although the exact date of use is unknown. The design also closely matches the early design of the pretzel, which was made to represent arms crossed in prayer. In my opinion the shank is a later addition to this ring which is not a bad thing as it is strong and secure. so you can take your pick of a Lovers knot or a Stafford Knot. Either way it looks lovely when worn.
