Rare Find
The grouse is the national game bird of Scotland. Shooting of grouse dates back to 1853 after the railways allowed easier access to the moors. It is a popular sport as grouse are difficult to shoot and can get up to speeds of 70 miles an hour. This 15ct gold brooch is a wonderful representation of a healthy grouse with fine engraving on the feathers and cabochon ruby set eyes on both sides. It was made circa 1880.
