Rare Find
A rare Georgian brooch composed of a “Giardinetti”. This literally means a small garden of flowers in Italian. Such pieces were popular in the Georgian period and very few survive intact. It has been claw set in silver and 9ct gold with colourful gemstones, rubies, emeralds, cushion and rose diamonds and a sapphire. The really unusual element is the foiled setting of a faceted triangular rose cut diamond for the vase.
It has a later and safer rub over catch on the pin and a safety chain for extra security.
