It has been enamelled in black with blue enamel forget me nots around the quatrefoil design and the words “In Memory Of” around the ornate shank. In the centre is a glazed compartment that may have held a lock of hair. Engraved on the inside is “Eliza Paterson died 28 March 1829. Not Lost but Gone Forever.” The unusual element in this ring is the heart shaped glazed locket on the inside at the back of the ring which is echoed on the outside with an enamelled heart.
