This beautifully made French Regency style brooch likely dates to the first quarter of the 19th century. The French royal device, three delicate silver fleur-de-lis, are each set with small rose cut diamonds, above a rich royal blue guilloche enamel shield. The soft gold scroll border is ‘overgrown’ with diamond-set silver tendrils, and the shell cradles a small natural pearl. The asymmetry of the brooch is typical of this style of jewel, further adding to its character.
As well as being a highly collectible piece, its robust construction also makes this brooch suitable to wear. A wonderful piece.
