This is a stunning large ring that does not disappoint when seen in the flesh. It was made in France circa 1820 and has been set with a large amethyst in the centre. Around it are graduated old mine cut diamonds. Amethysts were prized stones at that time as they were just being imported from Brazil, so many pieces that we see from this period have often been set with amethysts. The 18ct gold reeded shank divides in to two where it meets the top which is a mix of silver and gold.
The design flows so beautifully and it is a terrific look when worn.
