Snakes have featured in jewellery and date back to ancient Egypt and Greece. Historically snakes symbolise eternal love, regeneration and wisdom. This snake has been beautifully modelled with attention to engraved detail on its body. It holds a large natural baroque pearl surmounted with a diamond set mount and another diamond. It’s eyes have also been set with small diamonds. It is 14ct gold and was made circa 1880 in America.
At present it is a brooch but it could be converted to a necklace if wanted.
