A rare 18ct gold brooch that was made in France circa 1860. It is set with a diamond shaped porcelain plaque that has been hand painted in great detail. The kneeling cherub with hands behind his back is telling the maiden, with her hand maiden beside her, that love is unrequited as yet. There are four hearts to the right of the maiden which have ben pierced with arrows. It is a charming brooch and is like a miniature work of art.
