Rare Find
An unusual Novelty locket featuring a handbag. It was made circa 1830-1850 and has been enamelled in black enamel and engraved with ornate motifs inside and outside. It hinges open to reveal two glazed compartments within. It is most likely a mourning locket and the bag design meant that you could keep someone close to you at all times.
It is not large so it could be worn on its own or with other pieces on a chain, although I would caution against the enamel being damaged.
