A smart Art Deco platinum rectangular shaped ring that was made in the early 1920s. It has been rub over set with two well matched rectangular shaped sapphires that are surrounded by rose diamonds. There are further rose diamonds set in to the shoulders. The top has detailed milgrain work. ‘millgrain’ is a jewellery design technique you have probably seen before, but may have never noticed. The word is derived from the French ‘mille-grain’, which translates to “a thousand grains”, milgrain detailing is a close-set row of metal beads that are typically used as a border.
It was made circa 1920 and would make an ideal engagement or dress ring as it sits low on the finger and is practical to wear.
