A lovely pair of 15ct gold and silver bee earrings that were made circa 1900-1910. They have been beautifully made in a realistic fashion and each earring has been claw and rub over set in silver settings with rubies and rose diamonds. They also have small cabochon opal eyes.
Bees were a popular subject in jewellery throughout the Victorian and Edwardian periods. Bees toil day and night so these earrings signify ‘efficiency’ and ‘organisation’.
