A great looking 9ct gold ring that has been set in a Roman setting with a jasper intaglio. It has been carved with a centaur. Centaurs possess extraordinary strength and can use their front hooves as formidable weapons. They were followers of Dionysus, the God of Wine and were known for being savage, rowdy and boisterous. Often they were portrayed as being governed by their bestial half ! The intaglio was carved circa 1820 but the ring shank was made in 1998 in London.
