It is surrounded by well matched old mine cut diamonds and there is a further diamond in his head.\u00a0 His eyes, legs and tail have all been set with green garnets. This was a popular combination of stones in the Edwardian period. Green garnets or demantoid garnets as they are known were the new stones on the block, having been discovered in Russia.
