It articulates in a chevron design. Each articulated segment has a pearl below. There are over one hundred pearls. It has been marked on the clasp with an owl or Hibou which means that jewellery in finished condition is brought to be examined by the French assay office and has passed the test for 18ct gold in order to be imported and sold in France. Therefore one can be sure of the gold carat of a piece of jewellery with this hallmark.
