It has been enamelled in translucent yellow that shows the engraved silver beneath. The body of the butterfly is black enamel. Andersen opened his shop in Oslo, Norway in 1876 specialising in jewellery and silver wares. He died in 1901 and his sons took over company operations and designs. Today, David-Andersen (the company\u2019s name since the early 20th century) is well known for its mid century enamelled silver jewellery.
