There are tiny rose <span class=\"glossary-tooltip glossary-term-373309\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"glossary-link\"><span class=\"glossary-underline\">diamond<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"glossary-tooltip glossary-term-373183\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"glossary-link\"><span class=\"glossary-underline\">points along the edge<\/span><\/span><\/span>, as they are called, that give the ring a good line on either side. This was often the case with rings of this age. The sides of the ring have a detailed scroll design which is why this style of ring is called a carved half hoop.
