A beautiful 18ct gold ring set five well matched precious opals with a good strong harlequin play of colour. Play of colour is the optical effort seen in Opals where they reflect a range of colours when light is shone on them. The best play of colour is where you can see a range of all the play of colours: yellow-green, orange-red and blue as seen in this ring. It is also known as harlequin. Normally this effort is best seen on black opals but this is an excellent example of harlequin play of colour on white opals.
