A stunning 15ct gold heart shaped pendant that was made circa 1900-1910. At that time anything heart shaped was fashionable as it was all about Romanticism. The fashions were soft flowing garments in pale shades so these heart pendants went very well with them. It has been set with a demantoid garnet or green garnet as they are commonly known. These stones were mined in the Urals in Russia and had just been discovered. They quickly became the rage as they were rare and expensive. Surrounding the green garnet are pave set well matched natural split pearls. On the reverse is a heart shaped glazed section that can be taken out to insert a photograph.
