A useful quizzer, as they are known, that was made circa 1820-1840. It is a very decorative and practical piece of jewellery to wear. It has repousse work of shells and flowers around the glass and the Prince of Wales feathers on the stem. The magnification is around five times. The quizzing glass was generally worn on a long ribbon or chain around the neck and was held up to the eye to “quiz” (stare, glance, look at quizically) people and objects.
