An unusual 18ct gold Rosary & Cross ring that was made circa 1860. Antique cross and rosary rings, known as decade rings originated around the 13th to 16th centuries as a discrete way to pray the Rosary during periods of religious persecution and travel<\/mark>. They are called decade rings because they represent one decade (ten Hail Marys) of the full Rosary. <\/span>These rings typically feature ten projections for the Hail Mary prayers and a cross at the top to signify the “Our Father” prayer which concludes a decade of Hail Marys.<\/span><\/p>\n
