This 15ct gold heart is a little treasure from the late Georgian period circa 1820. Lockets such as this example would have been given as love tokens and they come in all shapes and sizes. This example is particularly pretty and features a forget me not flower in the centre set with turquoise and a tiny ruby in the centre and applied gold leaves and stems. This sent a hidden meaning to the receiver to remember that I am around! On the reverse is a single turquoise with further applied gold work. It hinges open from the bottom to reveal a glazed locket that would have originally contained a lock of hair. The present recumbent can be removed if wished. It is suspended from two chains that meet so that a fine chain can be added.<\/p>\n
