This is a stunning opal pendant that was made in the early 1900s. It is 15ct gold and has been set with an oval cabochon cut opal that displays flashes of blue, red and green. It is so hard to photograph opals and show their true high colour. In this case the opal is a really lively stone and is surrounded at a slightly lower level by well matched rose diamonds. Around the rose diamonds is a further border of well matched natural split pearls. The bale or loop has also been set with three rose diamonds. The Edwardian period was such a pretty era. You can imagine how it would have looked all those years ago when worn with the ivory coloured silk and taffeta fashions of the time.
