A stunning 18ct gold bracelet that was made circa 1880 by Mrs Newman. Charlotte Isobella Newman (1836-1890) was one of the first female jewellery designers to make the grade in the late 1800s. She worked for John Brogden in the 1860s who are known for their revivalist Archaeological and Renaissance designs. She was rewarded for her collaboration with a medaille d’honneur at the Exposition Universalle in Paris in 1867 and 1878. When Brogden died in 1884 she started her own business under Mrs Philip Newman in Bond Street and then Saville Row. She signed her pieces “Mrs N” as seen in this bracelet.\u00a0This bracelet is beautifully made and has been set with fourteen old mine cut diamonds in square silver settings with chains in between.
