An unusual 18ct gold ring that was made circa 1880. It has been set with an oval cabochon turquoise that is surrounded by small rose diamonds. There are further rose diamonds set in to the ornate shoulders. Turquoise is perhaps the oldest stone in man’s history, the talisman of kings, shamans, and warriors. It is a stone of protection, strong and opaque, yet soothing to the touch, healing to the eye, as if carved from an azure heaven and slipped to earth. I am afraid that I lifted this quote as it explains the fascination with turquoise so well.
