Carved Reverse Rock Crystal Brooch

Reverse intaglio crystals are very collectable, and difficult to find in good condition. This one is a good size, and a popular subject. It was such an art to carve the crystal in reverse, and then to colour it. Artists such as Pradier used to test their ability by carving a branch of a tree as near to the top surface of the crystal as possible.
